What kind of Father would do THAT?
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put [Him] to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see [His] seed, He shall prolong [His] days, And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, [and] be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.
Isaiah 53:10-11 NKJV
Love and justice collided at the cross. This prophecy was written over 500 years before Jesus took His slow steps toward Golgotha, where He would be crucified. God loved us so much that He was willing to let His one and only Son die.
And death wasn’t enough. The Savior had to suffer. When God looked at His righteous soul as Jesus died on the cross, God was satisfied. Sin was paid for. We who love Jesus can be justified, which means that we can be found innocent.
Are we really innocent? Not a chance. But when God forgives our unrighteousness, He accepts Jesus’s payment for our sins. We are free. This prophecy says that the Messiah will see His offspring.
Who is His offspring? Us! We are God’s children because of Jesus.
Now we can call God our Father.
